CODE Privacy Policy

Deshi Probashi maintains and organizes the Convention of Diaspora Experts, known as CODE. This policy applies to both the CODE mobile app and the website at www.bddiaspora.com. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean Deshi Probashi as organizer of these services. It explains the information we handle, why we handle it, and the choices available to members.
Information We Collect
When you register on either service, we collect your name, email address, and account information. You may provide a photo, phone number, country, profession, organization, expertise, biography, and other profile details. We also process information necessary for friend requests, group invitations, notifications, chats, and, when available, voice messages and attachments. Technical and security records help us operate the services and protect accounts. We do not require an optional field unless the form clearly says otherwise.
How We Use Information
We use account and profile information to provide membership across the website and app, help members find relevant expertise, support networking and knowledge sharing, operate groups and events, answer inquiries, secure accounts, and improve our services. Where a specific purpose requires consent, we ask separately and provide a way to withdraw it. We do not use private chats to create partner lists or profiles.
Profiles and member choices
Members can see profile details made available through the services. Where profile visibility and online status settings are offered, you can choose the audience for eligible details and whether to show when you are online. We will identify any basic information that remains visible for account identification, group participation, or safety. A profile appearing in member search does not authorize us to export it to a government or other partner.
Chats, voice messages and attachments
We do not give chat contents, voice messages, or chat attachments to government partners, sponsors, or other partners for member lists, research, marketing, or outreach. Conversation participants can see and may disclose material sent to them.
We use safeguards appropriate to the actual messaging system. We will call CODE chats end to end encrypted only if that protection has been implemented and independently verified. Until then, we do not claim that CODE cannot access messages. If end to end encryption is later introduced without operator held decryption keys, we will update this policy to explain what it protects, how backups work, and what information remains accessible. Encryption cannot prevent a participant from sharing a message or someone from reading it on an unlocked or compromised device.
Service providers and partner access
Providers may process limited information to host the website or app, support authentication, store information, and deliver notifications under applicable agreements and safeguards. We limit their access to the services they provide.
We do not give any partner unrestricted access to our membership database. We may provide reports that do not identify individuals. We will share identifiable member details with a named partner for a stated opportunity only after a clear, separate member choice, subject to applicable law. We will restrict the fields, access, purpose, retention, and further disclosure through an agreement. Declining optional partner sharing does not prevent ordinary membership. We do not sell member information.
Administrative access and legal requests
Authorized Deshi Probashi administrators may access information needed to operate and secure the services. We limit access by role and record relevant actions where appropriate. Routine member exports exclude passwords and private chat contents.
We assess government and law enforcement requests under applicable law. We disclose only information we are legally required to disclose and that we possess or can access. We do not provide standing access to a member database. We notify affected members when legally permitted and appropriate. We do not voluntarily provide chat content to partners; a binding legal obligation is handled under this paragraph.
International processing
CODE serves members in multiple countries. Some providers may process information outside Bangladesh or the member’s country. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we will apply them and make information about relevant providers and locations available.
Retention and security
We keep account and profile information while an account is active and for any additional period needed to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or protect the service. We retain messages and associated records as needed to provide messaging, subject to member controls, technical requirements, and applicable law. We periodically review retention and delete or deidentify information no longer needed. Specific retention periods and backup practices will be published when the underlying settings are finalized.
We use access controls, appropriate encryption, and other reasonable safeguards. No online system is risk free. We respond to security incidents and give notices where applicable law requires them.
Your privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you may ask to access, correct, receive, or delete your personal information, and to restrict certain uses. You may change available profile choices and withdraw consent for optional partner sharing. Legal obligations and the rights of others can limit some requests. Email privacy@bddiaspora.com; we may verify your identity before responding. Where California, other US state, European, or other rules apply, we will provide any additional rights, notices, and choices they require.
Changes and contact
The same current policy will be available in the CODE app and at www.bddiaspora.com. We will notify members of material changes and request a new choice where required. Contact privacy@bddiaspora.com with questions or privacy requests.
